Cyst in Pouch of Douglas & Castor Oil Therapy

by Noorrina
(Rose Hill Mauritious)

Hi, I went for my appointment with my doctor yesterday and he said that I have a cyst of 6cms in the pouch of Douglas. According to him, it is not an endometriosis cyst nor its dangerous. It is just filled with liquid. I am really worried and want to have your advise if the cyst can be dangerous or how I got a cyst in the pouch of Douglas. I have just ordered castor oil pack and fertility massage DVD. Will the castor oil therapy works on any type of cysts?

Answer:
Don't worry, you doctor is monitoring your situation and if he is not concerned you shouldn't either. There are very important differences between a functional cyst and an endometriotic cyst.

Functional cysts are basically follicular or corpus luteal cysts that may occasionally form during a woman reproductive life. They are often asymptomatic and only diagnosed during a routine ultrasound. They are always benign and most likely to disappear on their own after a number of cycles.

They are fluid filled and are commonly treated with contraceptive pill to suppress ovarian activity in order to allow the healing of the cyst and prevent the formation of more. The routine management of functional cysts is to simply monitoring them to make sure they do not increase in size. Sometimes it is necessary to aspirate them to analyze the liquid.

Endometriotic cysts are also called chocolate cysts. This type of cysts develop on the ovary and a dense and appear dark in colour due to the presence of blood. They often cause ovarian pain and heavy bleeding during menses.

The Pouch of Douglas is located in the peritoneum between the back all of the uterus and the rectum. It is possible for a functional ovarian cyst to intrude in this area.

Functional cysts can become very large and rupture causing in most cases a sudden onset of very severe ovarian pain, followed by a heavy menstrual blood loss. Liquid may still be seen by ultrasound in the pouch of Douglas after rupture, but eventually it will disappear.

Natural Treatment Of Ovarian Cysts

The natural health management of this type of cysts is different than conventional medicine and it involves ovarian suppression with natural progesterone therapy from day 8 to day 28 of the menstrual cycle for 2-3 cycles, castor oil therapy, enzymatic therapy, fertility massage and herbal remedies.

Castor Oil Therapy

Doing castor oil therapy will help for both endometrial and functional cysts.
Ovarian cyst formation is related to excess estrogen in the body: estrogen dominance with progesterone deficiency. Also, liver and bowel toxicity and body exposure to xenoestrogens may be contributing factors.

A natural treatment for ovarian cyst formation helps the body breakdown excess estrogen reducing cyst size, and eventually completely eliminate the cyst.

Castor Oil Therapy & Fertility Massage
by: Noorrina

I have received my order of castor oil therapy and self fertility massage yesterday and planning to start using them today.

As per the instructions on the DVD, the castor oil should be absorbed in the flannel and the exercise should be done 4 times a week during 5-6 weeks.

For how long will the castor oil last. And how many bottles needed for the whole treatment?

Does the flannel need to be washed after each use or it can be kept as is?

Can the fertility massage still work if the castor oil therapy is not being done?

Castor Oil Packs
by: Maria Gioia Atzori

The castor oil will last for about a month even longer, this depends on how much you use and how you apply it.

I often recommend to distribute the oil directly onto the skin and then apply the dry flannel cloth over-top, without soaking the cloth in castor oil, as many women find this messy. This method is not the classic one, but works fine in my opinion. This way, the oil will last longer and the flannel can be kept in a plastic bag and re used many times.

You should wash it every week or two, as you find fit. Some women use baby's receiving blankets and cut them in half. Make sure to wash the flannel cloth by hand on its own as it has oil that can ruin your other clothes.

The fertility massage will work even without the castor oil, that will not be a problem.

Fertility massage - ovaries massage
by: Noorrina

Hi Maria

Sorry to disturb you once more.

I have started my self fertility massage and am doing it everyday but without the castor oil therapy.

I am having some difficulties to follow the instructions on locating the ovaries.

I would be grateful if you could kindly give me some tips of how to locate the ovaries.

Is fertility massage safe if done everyday?

Thanks

Self Fertility Massage: How To Locate The Ovaries
by: Maria Gioia Atzori

Hi Noorrina,

It's a pleasure to assist you!
If you are not using castor oil pack, make sure to use a massage oil like almond oil. This will help you in your massage as your hands will glide easily on your skin.

The ovaries are located on each side of the uterus, they are small so you will not feel anything, what is important is that you draw fresh oxygenated blood to this area through massage

To approximate locate the ovaries do the following:

1. Go 4 inches (4 finger widths) below the navel.

2. From this point, go 3 inches (3 finger widths) to the left and to the right.

If you are trying to conceive, do self fertility massage every day (or 3-4 times a week) up until ovulation. To know if you have ovulated make sure to chart your cycle.

Do not do self-fertility massage during your period and if you think you might be pregnant. Start gently and do not overdo it. The first couple of days you may feel a little sore and this is normal. You will notice that your first period may contain some clots as the uterus gets cleansed, but your period will be easier with less cramping.

Fertility Massage After Ovulation
by: Noorrina

Dear Maria,

One more question. I am very irregular in my period and the purpose of my doing fertility massage is more to treat my endometriosis and ovarian cyst for the moment. My cycle can vary and sometimes it is 40- 45 days and sometimes even more. Thus, I really don't know when I am ovulating.

In such a case, can I continue the fertility massage even after ovulation or during ovulation?

Thanks

Yes, you can continue doing self fertility massage until your period, but not doing your period as long has you are not trying to conceive during that month.
