Did you know that water can help increase your chances of getting pregnant? Studies have proven that there is a very healthy link between drinking water and getting pregnant.

Dehydration Can Affect Your Fertility

Besides oxygen, water is the next most important ingredient for life. It is found within all our living cells. In fact most of the intracellular fluid is composed of water, around 70% of the total volume in a typical cell. Our cells are also surrounded by a watery solution (extracellular fluid) which acts as a communication system for signaling molecules. All biochemical reactions involve water!

The body looses water through sweating, urinating, bowel movements, and it's exhaled during breathing. Therefore you need to replace your lost stores daily.

Your water intake can come from your food, especially from fruits and vegetables. This may account for around 20% of our daily water intake.

If you start letting yourselves get dehydrated then subtle ailments can start to show. These may be easily overlooked at first, but if left untreated health can suffer.

Water helps to flush out toxins from the body. The accumulation of various toxic substances, chemicals etc. can contribute towards hormonal imbalances, or even directly affect sperm and egg cells. Dehydration leads to blood thickening and sluggish circulation. This in turn may eventually interfere with the pelvis area and reproductive organs.

Why Water is Important

Water is one of the most basic nutrients for all body processes, getting pregnant included. By making sure you are drinking enough water, you can help improve your chances of getting pregnant. Your overall health is one of the most important factors in determining whether or not you will be able to get pregnant. By drinking enough water, you will improve and maintain your overall health, while boosting many aspects of your fertility. Water helps your body during ovulation, fertilization, and pregnancy.

Quantity of Water

Experts have proven that the more you drink water the better will be your body processes. Your body will function smoothly and all your toxins will be flushed away. Thus, you will be very healthy. Experts have also said that you should drink even more water when you are trying to conceive, around 10-12 glasses per day will help you significantly.

Drinking more water if you are not used to can be a bit difficult, so start slowly. How much water your body really depends on your weight, your age and your level of activity. The formula to determine you water intake levels is:

Your weight in pounds multiplied by 2/3 to get the amount of ounces per day. For example, if you weight 130 pounds, you should drink 87 ounces of water a day

Add 12 ounces of water daily per every 30 minutes of activity.

Quality Of Water

Drinking more water is important as is the quality of the water you drink. I like Santevia counter top because this water is purified and pH balanced. There are so many types of other water filtration system out there and it all depends what kind what water comes from your tap and where you live. My advice is to take some time and do a bit on research in this topic. 

Once the water has been cleared of impurities (and there are many that can affect fertility), you can add salts back in by making a sole' solution using Himalayan salt and adding 1/2 a teaspoon to a gallon of water. This is a simple way to add minerals back into the water. This aids in hydration and water absorption.

Water For Uterine Health

Uterus is a very important organ for pregnancy. The uterus should be healthy and the wall should be thick enough for implantation. If not, even though fertilization occurs you will fail to get pregnant. If by chance you get pregnant, there will be a high chance of miscarriage.

Healthy Eggs

When your eggs are healthy your baby will be healthy, too. Water ensures proper health of your eggs. The eggs get all the nourishment required to mature properly. Follicles develop based on the environment of the tissue surrounding them.

Fertile Mucus

You surely know the importance of cervical mucus. It helps you get pregnant by ensuring that the sperm reach the fallopian tube with ease without facing any troubles on the way. Lack of cervical mucus will make it very difficult to get pregnant. When you drink water, you enhance the production of cervical mucus thereby ensuring the sperm a safe journey through the vagina.

Dehydration can hinder the production of cervical fluid/mucus. Adequate water intake helps enhance the quality and amount of fertile cervical fluid. Healthy cervical fluid is essential for conception as this protects sperm cells, and assists with their journey towards the egg. It also helps to keep sperm cells alive for several days.

Healthy Sperm

Sperm cells need lots of healthy spermatic fluid to survive and stay strong once they enter the female reproductive tract. Drinking lots of healthy water is not only good for women but also for men. In men dehydration can lead to reduced semen production and/or a lower sperm count. Semen is the fluid that contains the spermatozoa. This fluid protects and nourishes sperm cells, transporting them during ejaculation so that they can reach the female egg. A low sperm count can decrease the odds of conception taking place.

Healthy Pregnancy

The baby needs lots of healthy amniotic fluids to develop and grow inside the placenta. So, drinking plenty of water is especially important during pregnancy. Women during pregnancy need to drink even more water.

Once pregnant drinking enough water is essential. This helps prevent urinary tract infections and/or hemorrhoids, both of which are common during pregnancy. Water is needed for a sufficient amount of amniotic fluid which is what the fetus floats in within the womb. Water transports nutrients to the developing baby through the mothers blood supply. Dehydration is one of the leading causes of premature labor as this can bring on contractions. While pregnant or breastfeeding water consumption usually needs to increase. It's best to check with your own doctor to determine how much water to drink during this time.
