Failed IVF Treatment

Last month I under went IVF treatment which was not successful. My question is during my check up with the fertility specialist he found that the follicles where only forming on the left side.

What could be the reason for this?

Follicle Dysfunction & IVF

I really can't say since I do not have any details of your case. Talk to your doctor and ask him why. Did he mean that he could not see any dominant follicle developing?

Researchers know that in women with premature ovarian failure something the ovaries stop the normal functioning and in most cases, the exact reason is not clear.

Follicles in the ovaries mature and grow until they release the egg at ovulation. In order to know for sure that your ovary has not follicle, your doctor would have to monitor it for a few month since each ovary is active every other month.

So, this month is the left ovary's turn to release the egg, next time it will be the right.

What your doctor may be referring to is follicle dysfunction, where the follicles are not developing properly in the ovary.
