Hi Pavani,

I hope the following information will be able to help you understand better how high prolactin and high TSH levels can impact fertility.

Prolactin Levels For Fertility

Day 3 prolactin levels should be less than 24 ng/ml. Increased prolactin levels can interfere with ovulation. This causes delayed menses or anovulatory cycles. High prolactin is also often associated with other conditions like PCOS and pituitary tumours (very rarely).

In most cases it's an indication of hormonal imbalance due to decreased pituitary function.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)

Day 3 TSH should be lower than .4-4 uIU/ml. The normal range for fertility is about 1-2ulU/ml. A high level of TSH combined with a low or normal T4 level generally indicates hypothyroidism, which can have an effect on fertility. Hypothyroidism also causes poor ovulation cycles.

Increased prolactin levels are often seen in people with hypothyroidism, and doctors routinely test people with hyperprolactinemia for hypothyroidism.

In your case, your thyroid gland is most likely under functioning and this can be the cause of your hormonal imbalance. Many women with hypothyroidism do conceive and carry healthy babies to term.

The key is to follow your doctor's advice and monitor your cycle in order to increase your chances of conceiving each month.

My advice would be to use Ovacue Fertility Monitor because in this way you will know if and when you are ovulating, and if they treatment you are undergoing is working for you.

If you are taking conventional medication to treat your hormonal imbalance, the best way to support that is to follow the fertility diet and to make sure to relax.

I know that the stress of these type of news can make you feel even more sad and depressed, but do not give up.

If you feel you need emotional support, download the mind-body natural fertility program. This guided meditation will be able to help you and make you feel happier and more optimistic. It also has a great effect on the hormonal system promoting and supporting hormonal balance.
