How Does Susten vt Help in Pregnancy?

by Sonia
(Noida)

I have been trying to conceive for the past 2 years, but with no results. So this month we decided to go with IUI done on 19th & 20th of Dec 2011....now dr. has recommended to use Susten vt 200 for 15 days..is it useful to get pregnant?

Answer:

Hi Sonia,

Susten is a natural progesterone and does support healthy conception and pregnancy. I would recommend taking it as suppository rather than in tablets. Taking oral progesterone is not as easily absorbed by the body as it as to be broken down by the liver.

Progesterone plays a major role during the two weeks after ovulation because it supports embryo implantation. Most women who have luteal phase defect suffer from low progesterone and recurrent miscarriage. They need progesterone supplementation to ensure that will carry to term. In these cases, the doctor may recommend using natural progesterone through the entire first trimester.

During the first half of the menstrual cycle, progesterone is low and estrogen is high. Estrogen stimulates the lining of the uterus to grow and thicken. When the egg is released during ovulation, progesterone is secreted by the follicle that used to contain the mature egg.

This follicle now becomes the corpus luteum and produces progesterone for the next 14 days of the menstrual cycle. This part of the menstrual cycle is called the luteal phase and it should last for 14 days. During this time the lining receives the fertilized embryo.

If the luteal phase is shorter than 10 days, the embryo may not have enough time for implantation.

By supplementing with progesterone, it is possible to support pregnancy and prevent miscarriage by supporting the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.

Many Blessings!

Pregnancy Test
by: sonia

Thanks so much for this information. We have done the IUI on 19th & 20th of Dec 2011 so when is the perfect time to do a home pregnancy test.?

My menstrual cycle is 32 days & my last period date was 8th Dec.

Also last month my LH was 10.74 & FSH was 4.50 does that mean I have PCOS?

Testing For Pregnancy After IUI
by: Maria Gioia Atzori

The best time to do a home pregnancy test is about 2 weeks after the IUI procedure. In your case with a menstrual cycle of 32 days, the best day would be January 15 2012.

In order to be diagnosed with PCOS you need to have more testing done by your doctor.

An ultrasound may be performed to further examine the ovaries and endometrium.

Many Blessings!

Sonia,

Sorry to learn that your IUI didn't yield the positive result you've been waiting for, but don't be disappointed.

My wife and myself have been going to a lot of doctors for treatment for the past 1 year.. We spent a lot of money and finally met a doctor that suggested IUI.

We went ahead and my wife did show signs of early pregnancy and we both were very happy.

But to our dismay, she couldn't take it forward due to biochemical pregnancy, which in simple words implies early abortion due to lack of growth at the pace at which baby is supposed to grow.

My wife then felt dejected like you and she took a break for 2 months. We had a few sessions of intercourse and guess what? she is now 6 and half weeks pregnant and its natural, not because of IUI , but because she took a break and recovered psychologically, it worked for us.

Stress, anxiety are part of married life, but get rid of them and just stay relaxed and don't think hard or feel bad about the failure of IUI

If your doctor asked you to opt for IUI, it implies everything is fine with you and your husband and so just pray to god, live a happy life and you will soon see positive results

Let me know if you need any other moral support and I can offer it
