Questioning My Fertility At 28
(Los Angeles, CA)
I was in a committed relationship with my ex-boyfriend for about 4 years, where we had a lot of unprotected sex. He said there were a couple of times where he released, but, I never got pregnant from that. Also, my periods have never been consistent since I can remember. Although I'm only 28 years old, could there be something wrong?
Irregular periods can be due to many factors like stress, lack of nutrients and poor hormonal balance. Many women get pregnant with irregular periods. Having irregular periods is not necessary a sign of infertility.
If you are really concerned consider talking to your doctor. Most doctors will not do anything unless you have been actively trying to conceive for about 12 months when under 35.
My advice is to follow a healthy diet and a healthy life style. Consider taking fertility vitamins
to support healthy ovulation cycles and regulate your cycle. Also make sure to relax once in a while.
If you are ready to have a baby now, begin charting your cycle. This will provide a lot of information about your fertility. It will help you target love making in order to conceive. I know that some couples get pregnant just like that, but most have to work a little harder at targeting sex to match the most fertile days of the month. If you have irregular cycles this can be a bit harder to do and it may also explain why you have not been able to conceive even if you had unprotected sex.
