Levothyroxine Interaction with Herbs

I bought the candida detox 1 month ago, but I didn't start taking it because I take .75 mcg of levothyroxine and I like to know if it is safe to take both. I ask my doctor but you know doctors don't approve the use of herbs only because they don't have any knowledge about herbs.

Please I will be more than happy if you can help me with this issue, is very important for me to get rid of candida, because when I finish this, I will begin with the fertility cleanse.

I also like to know if it is safe to take levothyroxine with the fertility cleanse.

I really apreciate your answer and to tell you the true :(this website allow me to wake up every morning with a constant hope in my heart ).

Thanks so much for the support.

The Candida detox contains a seaweed blend that is a source of organic iodine to support the thyroid gland.

These herbs are Bladderwrack, Dulse, and Irish moss. The amounts o fiodine are minimal, but it is important for you and your doctor to know.

It is important that your doctor is aware of what you are taking in case he or she decides to change the dosage of your medication.

Taking these herbs in conjunction with levothyroxine may increase the effects of the latter and aggravate your thyroid condition.

The fertility cleanse does not contain any herbal remedies that stimulate thyroid activity and it should be fine.

Also, when taking prescription medication and herbal remedies, make sure to leave at tleast 2 hours apart from each other.

Herbal detox

Hi similar to the other post, I take .50 of the levothyroxine and want to start a detox, colon cleanse and a parasite flush. Is it safe to take with my meds? It has burdock, slippery elm, rhubarb, taheebo, sheep sorrell in the tea and black walnut hulls, cloves, wormwood and seeds with distilled water and 45-50% pure grain alcohol.

It is always best to double check with your doctor, but most remedies are fine unless contain kelp, which is a high source of iodine. As you know, high levels of iodine may affect your thyroid medication.

Monitor your symptoms and see how you feel while doing the detox. Most people who have thyroid problems feel great after doing a detox, but might experience what is called in natural health, the healing crises, which consists of a transitory phase where your body feels off ( similar to having flu like symptoms).

I say this because some people think that it is their thyroid gland actin up and go see the doctor forgetting to mention about the herbal detox remedy. If you see your doctor always tell that you are taking herbal remedies otherwise you may have your regular medication increased unnecessarily.

This healing crisis is transitory, it lasts for 3 to 10 days depending on your level of toxicity. Having a healing crisis is a sign that the body is eliminating the toxins accumulated in the tissues. Do not be concerned if you feel this way, simply diminish the dosage of your herbal remedy. Never stop taking your thyroid medication on your own, it can be dangerous.

I also want to mention that you should allow 2 hours between your thyroid medication and any herbal remedy or supplement. This allows your body to metabolize and assimilate your medication.

Many blessings!
